Earlier this year, Cleartherm decided to reinvest in a brand new IGU Super Spacer line. Cleartherm were the third UK based company to acquire a Forel Super Spacer hot melt line back in 2006. Now though, the time had come to replace it. Our managing director Dave Laing said, "When we first started using Super Spacer, we applied it by hand. Then following a visit to America, we saw an automated hot melt sealant line for the first time. That was a real 'wow' moment for us. We knew we had to incorporate automation technology in what we did." The old Forel Super Spacer was removed in December 2022 and between then and the new line getting up and running, our IGU's were done by hand. "With automation, the quality is far superior, unit processing is much faster, and you can make considerable savings on labour" This new hot melt line is just one of a series of investments made by Cleartherm which include a new toughening plant, a high-speed cutting and loading centre, upgrading our 7.5/18 ton delivery vehicles and the installation of a 90kw solar panel system. All these upgrades are designed to keep Cleartherm ahead of the curve when it comes to Glass Sealed Unit manufacturing.
